Yorkshire Against New Coal

YANC (Yorkshire Against New Coal) is an environmental campaign group that was set up in 2008 to oppose new coal developments in Yorkshire, such as opencast mines and coal-fired power stations.

We believe the government’s new coal revival is a throw-back to the “dark ages” and highlights that they are sticking their heads in the sand about climate change, when they could be investing in clean, renewable technology.

We are currently active fighting a planning application for a new opencast mine in the village of Ledstone, West Yorkshire, which is situation right next door the Fairburn Ings bird sanctuary. To find out how you can help stop this proposal see the Get Involved page.
